This is how I care for my horses
1. hay & grain (12% sweet feed) AM & PM
2. Coggins & all shots (including rabies) 1st week in January
3. Shoes every 6 weeks Mine never go barefoot
4.Teeth I have their teeth checked & floated every 2 years if needed
5. Ride 5,6 times a week (this is hard to do)
6. Worming every 3 months alternate wormers
7. Hugs & petting every day
This is not the right way or the wrong way just my way.

Hey I worm my every six weeks, when my farrier shows up. Also I prefer to have my horses barefoot.

I have the best horse in the world. He is the best horse I have ever been around. I do not shoe him.

Jerry,

Welcome to the board. I must agree, Our horses are special to us, and my are dear to my heart. I only shoe mine if I have too, for an event, other than that they stay barefoot.
